Designed to be used in conjunction with the NAB Classic Banking account, the NAB Visa Debit Card offers flexibility and security with no monthly account fees.
What’s great?
The NAB Classic Banking account comes with a NAB Visa Debit Card. You'll be able to access your bank account funds anywhere Visa is accepted. Whether you’re buying the perfect pair of jeans online, covering your share of lunch with friends, or withdrawing money at the ATM, you can do it all with your NAB Visa Debit Card.
So, what do you need to know about this classic offering from NAB?
No Monthly Fees
You'll pay no ongoing monthly fees or annual fees for the NAB Classic Banking account or its debit card. This can help you save day-to-day, allowing you to put your money towards something you want. It’s also nice to see NAB doesn’t charge an overdraw fee, helping you to save even more.
Accessibility
First up, this is a Visa card. That means it can be used anywhere Visa is accepted worldwide. This makes it super easy to pay for stuff online and in person, while also giving you access to fee-free withdrawals at more than 4,000 ATMs. Additionally, you can take advantage of Visa's PayWave feature, allowing you to tap and go for purchases under $100.
Compatibility
The NAB Visa Debit Card is compatible with a range of digital wallets including Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, Fitbit Pay and Garmin Pay. NAB also offers access to NAB Pay, which allows you to sync your card with your Android device to tap and pay at the checkout.
Account Management
When you bank with NAB, you get a big name bank with big budget features. The NAB app gives you complete control of your money, 24/7. Using the app, you can block, unblock, and reorder your card, or turn contactless payments, online purchases and overseas transactions on and off with just a swipe.
Security
Security is high on our list of important features. The NAB Visa Debit Card has the backing of both Visa Zero Liability and NAB Defence, ensuring you – and your money – stay fully protected against fraud.
What’s worth considering?
While the NAB Visa Debit Card helps you save on monthly fees, there are other fees to consider. If you use the card overseas (or buy something online in a foreign currency), you'll pay a 3% currency conversion fee. Withdrawing money at an overseas ATM comes with a $5 fee on top of the currency conversion fee.
Why should you choose it?
If you want to access your money without paying any ongoing fees to manage your account, the NAB Visa Debit Card is a good option with decent all-rounder features. It offers good security, a user-friendly app with plenty of features, while helping you save on ongoing monthly fees.
If you want more from your card, you can check out NAB's platinum version, the NAB Platinum Visa Debit Card. Read our review to see what else it could offer you.

March 16, 2024I wanted a prepaid card, separate to my savings account. I was planing to put money on the card each month foe spending. I did not want it linked in any way to my savings account.

March 20, 2024Hi Jon, the Visa debit card with this account isn’t a prepaid card – it’s the bank card you’d use to buy groceries etc with money from your account. You could look at a Visa or Mastercard prepaid card if you want a standalone card that you can top up. I hope that helps, thanks Jon.

October 22, 2023does the card earn flybuy points on purchases
admin
October 25, 2023Hi John, unfortunately the NAB Visa debit card does not earn Flybuys points. However there are a few credit card options worth considering if you wish to earn Flybuys points, such as the Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard, Coles Rewards Mastercard, and Citi Rewards – Flybuys offer. For additional details, you can explore the guide I’ve written on the Flybuys rewards program.

April 29, 2023Do you get the $250 sign up bonus instantly into the account?
admin
May 1, 2023Hi Jemma, this debit card doesn’t feature any sign up bonuses. The NAB Visa Platinum Debit Card offers a 1% cashback offer, capped at $10 per month. The NAB Low Fee Credit Card does offer up to $240 credit back but there’s a few criteria you need to meet first. Hope this has helped!

August 12, 2022I am a (joint) account holder with my wife and New Zealand resident.
I hold a NAB VISA debit card number 4017 **** **** 6410 which has an expiry date of 08/22.
This card has not been used for several years due to covid and inability to travel from NZ to Australia.
I am flying to Sydney on 04.09.22 for a four day business visit and will be wishing to use this card.
Please confirm that a new card is ‘in the mail’ for me to receive before 31 August.
All my details remain unchanged from those you already hold.
