Visa debit cards come with a number of NAB accounts but there is still a few steps to go through before you get the card in your hand.
The main everyday transaction accounts from NAB all come with debit cards, so anyone with a Classic Banking or Retirement account will also be issued with a Visa option.
Most banks in Australia will advise customers of a 5-10 working day wait between applying for a debit card and receiving it, but NAB says it should only take 3-5 days for people to receive their cards.
People new to NAB will first need to apply for one of the eligible accounts, which can be done quickly online, over the phone or in a branch.
Once one of the transaction accounts has been applied for, it will need to be processed and approved. Then the “Welcome Pack” will be sent from NAB and received within 5-7 working days.
NAB also gives people the option of getting their card in the mail or picking it up from a nominated branch, so you can decide which would be the most convenient and safe choice for your situation.
Unfortunately there may be delays in processing a card application if further details need to be verified, but the following tips should help speed up the process:
- Have all your personal details ready when you apply
- Decide prior to applying where you want the debit card sent; and
- Keep a range of identification documents/items on hand
New NAB customers will need to pass standard ID checks before an application can move forward, which means even if you apply online you will need to go into a branch before you can get the account in order and receive a Visa debit card.
While it should only take 3-5 working days to get an NAB Visa debit card for one of your accounts, being aware of the other conditions will help you avoid delays so that you can start using the card as soon as possible.
