Westpac Debit Card Fees
There are a number of different kinds of fees that can be charged when using a debit card, but the ones most common with banks are monthly fees and transaction fees.
The Westpac Choice account – come with a monthly fee of $5, which may be waived if monthly deposits are over $2000 or if you meet other criterias such as being a full time student, under 21, pensioner or recently moved to Australia.
With the savings accounts, transaction fees tend to be charged more often because of the nature of these accounts, but for everyday accounts there are often free transaction options.
The Choice account comes with unlimited free transactions in Australia and overseas transaction withdrawals are charged a flat rate of $5 per transaction, but this can be avoided if the money is withdrawn from a Global Alliance bank, including Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, Barclays Bank in the UK and many more that Westpac has listed on their website.
