What’s great?
The HSBC Everyday Global Account Debit Card is an award-winning account that can put cash back in your pocket while saving on fees.
Let’s get into its features and fees, so you can make the right decision to suit your spending habits.
Save on Fees
In terms of everyday use, you could save big on fees with the HSBC Everyday Global account. You will pay no monthly fees, no matter how much or how little you use the account. Plus, you will pay no transaction fees when using the card in a foreign currency, and HSBC will charge no fees for ATM use (although other charges may apply).
Unlock Everyday Extras
Each month you deposit at least $2,000 into the account, you will unlock HSBC’s Everyday Extras. These include:
2% cashback on contactless payments (providing up to $50 cashback each month from eligible purchases when you tap and pay with Visa payWave, Google Pay, or Apple Pay under $100).
Save As You Spend Overseas
Given the fact that this is marketed as a ‘Global’ account, it should be no surprise that it is set up to benefit those who spend globally, either in person or online. Using the HSBC Everyday Global Account Debit Card, you can pay in the local currency with no hidden fees to worry about. So, how does it work?
Using the account, you can buy, hold, and spend in up to 10 currencies (including AUD). Simply switch between currencies when needed, using the mobile app. Currencies included are: AUD, USD, GBP, EUR, HKD, CAD, JPY, NZD, SGD, and CNY (currency restrictions apply to CNY).
What’s worth considering?
While there is always small print to check out when applying for a new account, HSBC keeps things pretty straightforward. We've already highlighted the main points; however, it’s worth noting that non-HSBC ATM operators may impose fees for withdrawals or balance inquiries, and other charges and fees may be applicable.
Why should you choose it?
If you travel overseas a lot or pay for stuff online in other currencies on a regular basis, the HSBC Everyday Global account could be a real winner. Not only can you save on ATM fees and international transaction fees, but you can also load, hold, and spend in up to 10 currencies while paying no monthly fees.
If you typically deposit at least $2,000 each month, you can also enjoy some nice extras and access to HSBC’s Everyday Extras.

July 22, 2024Hello Admin,
I’ve recently opened HSBC everyday global account and with this an USD account. The account number in the app is showing total 15 digits (BSB+9 digits number) but I searched google and its saying HSBC account are only 9 digits.
I’ve done a test transaction through wise app and it required only 9 digits and bsb code(separately).
So for receiving salary from my company(in USD) which account number should I provide?……..the 9 digits or whole account number of 15 digits(Which is shown on the app)
Appreciate your Quick reply.

July 23, 2024Hi there, I would suggest calling HSBC directly. They can walk you through the steps and make sure the numbers are right. The HSBC customer service number is 1300 308 008.

July 15, 2024If I use the HSBC Everyday Global debit card for online shopping in foreign currencies such as Yen or Hong Kong dollars, does it incur any transaction fees or bank transfer fees? Provided there is sufficient foreign currencies in the sub-accounts. Thanks
admin
July 22, 2024Hi Amy, great question! You’ll pay the real-time exchange rate on money you transfer from AUD into a different currency in one of your accounts (YEN, for example). But, you won’t pay any fees when you shop overseas using the foreign currency, as it’s treated as local currency. There are also no fees for withdrawing cash from eligible ATMs around the world. Hope that helps!

March 27, 2024I am travelling to Italy and Singapore. Can I leave my funds in AUD and withdraw in the local currency at an HSBC atm. Is there any advantage in pre converting to the foreign currency?
admin
March 28, 2024Hi Graham, the main reason to convert your money before you travel is the Real Time Currency Conversion rate, which is the best rate you can get and is available while the FX market is open. From Friday night (New York time) to Monday morning (when the Asia market opens) you’ll pay a risk buffer on every conversion. So, if you were to use your card while the FX market was closed you’ll pay more on each transaction. I hope that helps!

March 1, 2024Im travelling to South Korea and its not on your list of currency. Can I still use this card and will I still have no international fees and be able to draw money at ATMs.
admin
March 4, 2024Hi Helen, that’s a great question! The HSBC FAQs page says “Where a currency is not one of the listed currencies available on the Everyday Global Account or in the restricted currency Chinese Yuan (CNY), the amount will be deducted from the Australian Dollars balance and will be automatically converted into the local currency at the Visa exchange rate. No overseas transaction or ATM fees will apply (some ATM operators and merchants may charge a separate fee).” I think that answers everything! Thanks Helen.

February 1, 2024Do I have to transfer AUD to SGD before visiting Singapore. Is there an advantage to converting if I am only there for several days? Does tap and go work or must I use a PIN?
admin
February 2, 2024Hi Kathleen, with this card everything is done inside the app. As long as you have money in your account, you can transfer money in the app before you travel, while you’re in the air with inflight wifi, or when you land in Singapore. You should be able to tap and go wherever you see a card terminal. Enjoy your time in Singapore!

Zarah
October 20, 2023Hi! I was travelling to South Korea and Japan from Australia and was unsure if this card would provide better FX rates compared to just using my Macquarie Everyday Account which just applies the Mastercard FX fee? When using online converters it seems Mastercard is more competitive but I’m unsure given HSBC is meant to be more competitive, so maybe I misunderstood? Thanks!!
admin
October 25, 2023Hi Zarah, that’s a great question, thank you! The interesting thing with this card is that you can load money in and spend in the local currency. This could come in handy when you’re in Japan. But the Everyday Global Account doesn’t offer won. You’ll need to sit down and work out what you’re going to spend and where and factor that into your decisions. Either way, have a great time overseas!

admin
September 29, 2023Hi Steve, that’s a great question! With the HSBC Everyday Global account, there’s no fee when you withdraw cash from HSBC ATMs. However, please note that non-HSBC branded ATMs may charge an ATM operator fee.

I have everyday global account(debit card) for four years , am I eligible of condition of “2% cashback (up to $50 cashback per month) on all eligible purchases under $100 when you tap and pay with Visa payWave ” as above says or that’s only eligible for new customer only?
admin

Eric
June 30, 2023I have HSBC global account in Australia. Can a U.S. Organization use a routing number of HSBC in U.S. and my account number to deduct the fee from Global account in Australia?
admin
July 3, 2023Hi Eric, good question! Usually, if an organisation only has your bank’s routing and account numbers, they can’t deduct fees because an extra security measure is required (such as your authorisation or PIN). Unless you’ve authorised that organisation for automatic debits or recurring payments, granting them permission to deduct funds from your account. If you’re concerned about your account’s security, I recommend contacting HSBC immediately to report the matter.

Rebecca
April 29, 2023Hi there,
This looks like an excellent product. I am stressed about deciding whether to load the card with foreign currency or not worry about it. I am traveling to England, Italy, France, and Switzerland in July.
Any tips?
Thank you
Bec
admin
May 1, 2023Hi Rebecca, this account lets you load up Euros and Pound sterlings so it would be a great travelling companion. It can’t hold Swiss Francs, but as you can have other currencies on there, you can work out what exchange rate you’ll get with each currency before paying. You’ll load the card up with AUD before you go, and choose what “wallets” in certain currencies you hold in the app. Enjoy your time in Europe and the surroundings!
RODGER PHILPOTT
April 25, 2023WHAT IS THE DAILY LIMIT FOR ATM WITHDRAWALS in europe
admin
April 26, 2023Hi Rodger, that’s a good question! I looked into this for you and yes there’s a daily limit applied. That’s AUD $2,000 per day for withdrawals.
Dorothy
March 30, 2023I am going to Singapore Italy Turkey and Greece from Australia do I have to load all those currencies or can I just load Australian dollars and I can then just use an ATM or pay with the card
admin
March 30, 2023Hi Dorothy, with HSBC Everyday Global Account, you have the option to do both – exchange your AUD to foreign currency before you transact to lock in a real time exchange rate or you can leave your funds in AUD and it can be automatically converted to the foreign currency when you transact. However, when you travel to Turkey, you will only be able to go for the automatic conversion since their currency – Turkish lira, is not one of the supported currencies. Enjoy your trip, it sounds awesome!
Anne
February 2, 2023Can I transfer American Dollars from our US Bank account direct to this account and not have to pay a conversion fee? I understand that there is sometimes a transfer fee between banks.
I need to pay for hotel accommodation etc witha credit card and not a debit card. Will this card be a credit card?
admin
February 6, 2023Hi Anne, the HSBC everyday global account is a Visa backed debit card. It works similar to a credit card, but it will spend your money and not the banks. As it only features one account number, and separate wallets in the app, you’ll end up paying currency conversion fees across the transactions.
MARY PAGONIS
September 10, 2022Can I use the HSBC Everyday Global debit card in Turkey?

May 30, 2022When I use my hsbc global card overseas or at the moment overseas, is that. Under “credit” when ask what account.
What account would it be under using card overseas.
admin
June 7, 2022Hi David, when using a Visa Debit card, you’ll need to select Credit. This is due to the way the networks process transactions behind the scenes.
